Wyatt’s parents wondered how a homeschool cooperative would provide the right educational experience for their son, how could it help him get into a good college? But Wyatt was clearly dissatisfied in traditional school and in the end, his time at the Bucks Learning Cooperative was the best preparation for the country’s top program in his field of study.

Wyatt gradated from the University of Cincinnati in the spring of 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts with a Specialization in Costume Design. You can find his work for sale on Etsy.com under WKsantinoneedlework.

Testimonial by Patricia, Wyatt’s mom:

Our son was doing well in public school, but he knew where he was headed in life and was frustrated by the lack of options to help him get there. Even with a great sewing program at the high school, he was blocked from completing the program due to insufficient enrollment in the classes. We tried independent studies, but they were blocked as well. He started to become uninterested in school, so we looked for other options to help him complete high school. A friend recommended Bucks Learning Cooperative (BLC) as an option.

This was a huge change of thought pattern for us. What kind of an education could a home school cooperative give him to get into a good college program? How could a place with only 14 kids in several grade levels (at the time) provide the right educational experience? After a lot of consideration, and watching my son become so despondent about school, we took a leap of faith and enrolled him at BLC. Best decision we could have made for him! He was mentored in a way that made him feel like he was heard, like his participation mattered, and like his success was important to everyone there.

He started as a junior in high school, and participated as a student and a teacher. He was given time to work as an apprentice in his field, and his education was expansive and in-depth. He did well on his SATs and was accepted into all of the colleges he applied for. He is now a senior at the University of Cincinnati with a 3.7 gpa.

Children want to learn. It’s amazing what they learn when they are not forced into a specific topic. He covered many more topics of education than I thought he could while he was at BLC and more than he would have in a regular school.. He was interested in all of them, and to this day keeps expanding his mind and his interests. If you are looking for a different approach to learning for your child, this is the first step to an engaged and happy student.
